A Brief History of Ayutthaya — The Eternal Kingdom
Founded in 1350 CE by King U-Thong (King Ramathibodi I), Ayutthaya became the capital of the Kingdom of Siam for over 400 years. The city flourished as one of Asia’s greatest trading hubs, connecting merchants from China, India, Japan, and Europe.
At its peak, Ayutthaya was renowned for its magnificent temples, palaces, and sophisticated culture.
Though the city was destroyed in 1767, its spirit endures through the majestic ruins and enduring pride of the Thai people.
Today, Ayutthaya stands as a living monument to Thailand’s golden age — where spirituality, art, and history blend seamlessly with the tranquil rhythms of the Chao Phraya River.
